About Sipo Liimatainen
Surrealism and abstract fine art prints by modern master of surrealism and abstract art. Sipo's spectacular Scandinavian design, and surreal art collection 'Listen with your eyes' make any wall live.
His works have been published in Nordic countries (Sweden, Norway, Denmark), Belgium, Holland, Germany, England, the United States and Canada. Private collectors, art lovers and companies all over the world are keen on him and his creations.
One fan of his art described him as follows:
Sipo is a person of strong contrasts; he owns powerful yet subtle sensors. His works are overwhelmed by uncaptured strength and tempting depths. With no doubt he combines different kinds of trends and techniques with never-ending curiosity.
If Sipo were an object he would definitely be a surprising prism - master of lights and shadows. In Sipo's visions roots of light rest on lap of darkness - in Sipo's reality light and darkness were born as twins. This artist's universum of colors is extremely bewildering.

looking at his work, i had the idea to use it in mine. his use of 3-d circles and shapes in general gave me the inspiration for parts in my work
my works
My works in this series "untitled" was inspired by random moments in time. I draw surreal landscapes on off cut A3 and A2 cartridge.
I
This one is inspired by the hills I see every time I drive home to Putaruru
This was inspired by the book vitamin D. the reason i kept this in the series was because with the research you see the similarities, for some of my works i used the same ideas from a few of the same artists. Ben Goosens used 3D shapes as well as masks in his work so thats why i decided to keep this, eben though without the research it seems out of place
this was inspired by Jackson who used roman numerals in his name and got me thinking about years and time, then clocks.
this was inspired by the movie "son of the mask" i watched two weeks ago
i never thought about it till my mum pointed out that as symbols of theatre, the way i have drawn them suggests that the happy mask could be lucifer coming out of the floor in an alternate universe. the sad mask could be an angel crying over all those whom have sinned. the checker boared is to give the surreal effect
this was inspired by further reflection of the clocks work i done, i then started a thought process of time, then years, then future, then apocolypses. in this image i had drawn a clock with different symbols. at the 3 mark i have the symbol for pi with is 3.1415.... or 3.14. the time shows it's 3:14 in my clock which means it's "pi" time... play on words.. Pie and pi. the text is translated into latin, and in English means "one day will it end. Or will there, one day no longer be an end. Infinity. will it keep going? will it be happy? or will it be sad. will it be a continuous Monotony, or will it no longer exist."
the small txt is this rpeated over and over agan.
this image was inspired by shanaz. i saw the portraits and patterns and wanted to draw one too. at the last second I split the page in half and added what could be a beach landscape with an apple in the foreground. cover one side of the face then the other to get the full effect

DIGITAL ART BY BEN GOOSSENS
These are works done by Ben Goosens that had inspired my works
This work was inspired by this piece (above)
This inspired the mask drawing in my work
This mask was meant to look surreal but the idea of the face coming out of the ground suggests a darker demonic theme that wasn't intentional but still worked
when I drew this it i added the effect around it not knowing what to expect but it seems like someone drowning. upon further reflection it could suggest that it it a higher up saint-like figure possible drowning in the sins of all those who done wrong. but again this is all surreal so it could be anything, its up to your own imagination.
this mask i had so much fun drawing. there's no rhyme or reason. I intenionally inteneded to drw just a face but i had split it up and and added a landscape on the left side; a beach in the back ground, a tree in the middle, and an apple in the foreground. i tried to line it up with what was on the otherside of the crack

I drew the checker board ground to give it a surreal effect but the inspiration was from the textured ground in the image above
This one was inspired by the hovering building
the clock work was inspired by the roman numerals in Jackson's name (JACXIIN), i asked if i could use his idea and just let it flow into my work. i took the floating roots from the image and made it my own combining it with my work and fiting it with theme of the clocks
